Description
This painting shows Naamkaran of all brothers and sage Vishwamitra coming to take Ram with him.
Naamkaran of all brothers (Naming ceremony):
Above there is a scene from the name giving ceremony of four sons of King Dashratha. Sage Vashishtha is doing the rituals in the prescence of mothers Kaushalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi.
Sage Vishwamitra taking Ram with him: After completing the studies at Gurukul, Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya. At that time Sage Vishamitra came to the court of King Dashratha and told him that demons were causing them troubles and are not letting him perform the Yagna (fire sacrifice). He requested the King to send Ram and Lakshman along with him to protect his ashram. The king was reluctant first as the boys were too young to be sent away with him and so he offered the Sage if he could come instead but the Sage was adamant on taking Ram. After consulting the Royal Guru Vashishtha, the King finally sent his sons along with Sage Vishwamitra.
