My works are expressionistic in nature. Bold strokes flow in automatic rhythms, capturing the mood and passion of the artist and innumerable minute strokes and daubing are created as a part of the central image as well as that of the background. Seen from close quarters the paintings look completely abstract; they seem to be all about colors and the rhythms created by those colors. But seen from a distance, to the surprise of the viewers, figures and characters start evolving and it is interesting to see that I do not paint any iconic and singular figures on my canvases. I pairs off people, faces, limbs, animals and birds. This is a composite world of co-existence and relationships. They are as real as reality is and as unreal as the story induced worlds. However, my intention is to create a set of beings that co-exist and in many ways intertwine in their existence. There is some amount of surrealism in my paintings because they are real life inspired images but they are refined through the story induced fears, joys and anxieties. These characters are transported from real life to the dream life, the story life so that they look as fantastic as possible. This helps me to keep my thoughts and feelings about the innocent world of stories intact.
