Naeem Sitarmaker doing tar-jawari, the final process before sending the instrument to the musician. In this process, after thorough measurements, the holes are made to insert tuning pegs. Then the tailpiece, and bridge are glued on the face-plate to insert and tighten strings. The tanpura is then adjusted according to the pitch of individual buyer. The proceeds from the sale of this work will be shared with the Dagar Brothers Memorial Trust, New Delhi, for the digitisation of audio-visual archives, and with the Spaces Foundation, Chennai, to support the reconstruction of the Chandra-Mandapa and establishment of the museum. The remaining money will be used to fund the artist's ongoing project of documenting the pan-Indic traditions of the instrument making.
