About Artist

I was always interested in art right from school. So after finishing school, I joined Sir J. J.School of Art and completed my degree in Fine Arts in 1977. Since I wanted to widen my horizons and get good experience I worked in the art department at Air India for 6 months. I then did a one year course in Textile Designing at Sophia College and did a crash course in Interior Design too. Soon after I worked in Chippendale, Bombay Dying and finally at Garden Silk Mills as a designer for around 8 years. The past 30 years flew by as a busy housewife. The last 2 years I’ve picked up my brush again ... I still have the art in me and the desire to express. While in art school, I exhibited in group shows at Jehangir Art gallery and won awards as a student at various competitions. One award that comes to my mind is winning the Bronze medal at the International Women’s Day in 1975. I believe it’s never too late to begin anything in earnest. So at 64 , I’m happily painting and pray to find my paintings a good home. As a textile designer, I painted flower motifs, as an artist today I paint what captures me totally... Nature. For over a year, I’ve been painting trees in their various moods in different media. I plan to move on to different aspects of nature. I paint in my own style. The camera’s job is to capture a scene as it is ... I take the liberty to interpret the story in my style. Painting gives me immense happiness, it is my meditation and a way of showing gratitude to the universe.
