About Artist

I search for expression through art, & for me; art is a spontaneous and joyful celebration of life. It encourages my creativity. Having traveled to different parts of India my paintings reflect the true essence of Indian rustic life. I think that art is an ever-changing, unpredictable journey. My paintings bring forth spontaneity to the subject that I choose to depict. My paintings have a touch of expressionism in pulsating vibrant colours. The bold lines and bright colours, enhance the meaning of my paintings in an appealing manner & blends different colours producing harmony and symmetry in inimitable style. My expressionist approach gives the painting a unique style which depicts a living picture of the rustic life of India with simple subjects that readily appeals to the classes as well as the masses. I was very much impressed by the paintings done by Picasso, Matisse, vangogh, Rabindranath Tagore, M F Hussain & above all the folk paintings, the ‘Pata chitras’. I always search for the bold lines, bright colours, & simplified forms of the Indian folk painters & try to execute them in my paintings.

Description

An Indian lady waiting for the customer at the road side tea-stall. It is common scene of West Bengal. Here the painting depicts the lady in despair. I want to amalgamate the Indian folk style with the Bengal School of art.
