About Artist

I am Pranav Sood, a Chandigarh and Ludhiana-based artist. I am in my last year of bachelor's degree in fine arts. going through the diverse medias in fine arts I'm trying to pull out the stories which are latent in me.My stories are related to my experiences and now I am turning towards more philosophical ideas using my ideas. For me, my education in the true sense would have never been complete bereft of art. I realized that 'art' is a seemingly simple word which contains within itself an entire world of complex creations born in the artist's mind, heart and soul. Art has allowed me to represent latent emotions on the canvas, each color highlighting some part of the inner self. It was the early and fortunate influence of such factors that led me to pursue Bachelors in Fine Arts. Since the earliest stage, I had a penchant for artistic creations. I enjoyed drawing, painting and making decorative pieces as a child. The constant appreciation from my family and school encouraged me. During my undergraduate studies at Government College of Art, Chandigarh, my intense passion and regard for art found a meaningful existence in reality. My raw and free-flowing ideas were shaped effectively as a consequence of garnering the requisite knowledge. I welcomed studying new subjects which tutored me to view the depth of art and understand the process of aesthetic creation. While learning about Composition, I gathered the significance of connecting historical links to the future. In addition, I also formed a strong liking for Printmaking, a subject of Graphics, which demanded excellent manual skills and thereby, augmented my skill-set. During my last 3 years, I had several opportunities to participate in different workshops organized in various parts of northern India. Exposure to these events has helped me in learning wash painting and Pahari miniature painting. Furthermore, these skills allow me to express my thoughts with the extreme influence of Indian culture. The recognition of my work enabled me to be a part of the core team(4 members), who worked on a renovation program of frescos at the Golden temple, Amritsar. Beyond the curriculum, I actively participated in various exhibitions and workshops to quench the thirst of the artist in me. One of my painting was displayed at The Nehru Center, Indian High Commission, London in 2015. ). Other noteworthy participations include - All India art exhibition, Amritsar in 2016, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Exhibition in 2015, acknowledgement Punjab Lalit Kala Exhibition in 2015 I was rewarded with a scholarship by Proft Workshop, Nasik.

I made this painting after the reunion at my home with my family. Although it is my grandpa's birthday but I felt we are celebrating the togetherness of 13 members. I find Number 13 as complete as the 14th member will possibly my wife. spreading the love of joint family is real motive behind this work.
