Mangru Uike is a young Gond artist who has created an impressive body of contemporary Gond art using a variety of materials such as acrylic on canvas, pen and ink on paper. His themes include traditional gods and goddesses, animals, both real and imaginary, social issues and fantasy worlds. His skill is evident in the delicate shading he does and the minimal yet effective use of colour in his black and white drawings.
Uike’s works are part of the permanent collection at the National Museums, Liverpool, UK, and he has had a solo show at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal. He is the author/illustrator of a book, The Bamboo Maiden
