Ma Sita's birth: Ma Sita was discovered inside a groove of plowed field lying inside an earthen pot by King Janaka of Mithila also known as Janakpuri. So, Sita is often known as Daughter of Bhumidevi as she was found in the lap of Mother Earth and was adopted by King Janak and Queen Sunayana. When King Janaka was plowing a field to perform Yagna, he found the little baby girl inside the pot. Having no children of his own, he declared her as his own child and Queen Sunayana brought her up as her own daughter.
