Boatman Kevat cleaning Ram’s feet on the way to the forest: Sumantra carried Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman to the outskirts of the Ayodhya. When they reached the city of King Nishadraj Guha, they spent a night there and in the morning King called a boatman named Kevat to take them across Holy Ganga river. It is then the boatman said, “I will take you across only if you let me wash off the dust off your feet. I have heard the touch of the dust off your feet had turned stone into a woman (referring to Ahalya). What if my boat also turns to a woman ?”. He wanted to pay respect to him. He happily took them across the river and Sita worshipped the Holy river. They had no money to pay and so Sita gave her ring to Kevat.
