Sage Vashishtha giving knowledge to Ram and his brothers: This painting shows Sage Vashishtha teaching Ram and Lakshman. When the boys grew into young teenagers, King Dashratha called Sage Vashishtha to perform the sacred thread ceremony which was known as “Yagnopavita Samskara”. Then they were sent along with their guru to Gurukul (school) for their education. In the Gurukul, Ram along with three brothers learned about the religion, politics, duty, and archery. In the Gurukul, it was not a matter of concern that you are a son of the king or of an ordinary man. Everyone stayed together and studied together. They worshipped Lord Shiva and studied about Vedas (holy texts).
