About Artist
I am an architect with over 14 years of experience as a design professional. I work with ceramics and I see my work as a meeting point of conscious design and intuitive play; the right proportion of structure and freedom. I like to start by designing each detail and thinking about the form, geometry, rhythm and balance but I let my intuitive way of working overtake in the making process that lets me be more organic and playful.
Heavily inspired from our natural surroundings, I celebrate the tactile world of textures, wobbles and imperfections. I like my work to be touched, held and felt. I bring the viewer’s attention to the imperfect beauty that surrounds us. Abstract and minimal, my work aspires to be instrumental in crafting relevant designs for contemporary spaces.
I use all hand-building techniques, and using slabs is what I enjoy the most. Over many years, I have learnt ways to make slabs entirely by hand in a way that gives me the right amount constraints and freedom.
I like to think of clay as a living being, capable of conversations and it is most satisfying to experience it in my work.
I split my time between ceramics and teaching design at a reputed architecture college in Bangalore.
