What a Wonderful World Acrylic on Canvas, 20x30in I see trees of green, red roses too, I see them bloom, for me and you, and I think to myself, What a Wonderful World, I see skies of blue and clouds of white, The bright blessed day... And I think to myself, What a Wonderful World. ~Song by Louis Armstrong. Put on his song and look at my painting. I started painting prolifically after I moved to Dharamshala. The move gave me hope. Himachal Pradesh is abundant. There is plenty, and it helps with believing in the mentality of plenty over scarcity. The Blue Skies are neverending, roses grow not one but a bunch of 6 to a stem, life is beautiful, the world is wonderful. Sometimes it fills my heart. And I tried to express it in this painting. I painted What a Wonderful World after making Thangka colours with my Thangka Master Artist. The base colours used to make Thangka colours in Dharamshala are Kangra colours. But the Thangka colour palette varies from anywhere between 54 to 250 colours. The palette here is used in Tibetan Thangkas and each has a Tibetan name and a Thangka use. I am not a self taught artist. I approach master artists and ask them to teach me. Some do. Some I watch and learn from. I don't copy them or their art. I use the lessons and life spent with them and experiences as inspiration. There is nothing Thangka about this painting except the colours and the fact that it is inspired by abundant Dharamshala where there is a Tibetan settlement and Thangka art alongside Kangra art. tags: #floral, #flower, #flowers, #landscape, #joyful, #yellow, #blue, #plant, #trees, #warmth, #newart, #innovative, #something, #different, #drip, #splatter, #throw, #splash
