About Artist
Shirupa's impressionistic collages on birchwood/plywood, packed with, colorful birds hanging on branches full of leaves, roosters playing in the backyard, fruits and vegetables – are both exquisite and contemporary. At the core of the artist’s work is her urge to share the joy and romance that she feels with each bit of tiny handtorn paper, which could be an old postage stamp, handmade/handpainted paper/ephemera collected from around the world over the past decade. A self-taught artist, Shirupa tries to transform the old to new, the mundane to magnificent.
Her watercolors of trucks, locks with patina transport you into a world of color, texture that is old yet new.The owls with their piercing look from their hole probably strike a conversation.
