About Artist
Today I have spent the last 15 years of my art practice in Delhi, I feel reborn in a new context while maintaining the integrity and character of my roots in the growing years.
I was born in Dhanbad, a small industrial town in Jharkhand, where social hierarchy, coal plant and people working in the mines are seen reflecting with the city. Therefore, I try to show the social and political identity of the cities from a psychological point of view in my art. My work focuses on topics such as migration, identity and globalization as a result of tasks such as having, observing, and recognizing the various relationships between individuals and their surroundings.
Mythology plays a special role in my work, because it gives me a new perspective about the people living there and the place. In my art, as an individual and artist, I feature social and political facts, mythology and my personal experiences.
It fascinates me when looking at the intricate texture of plant equipment, and the natural texture of colors on a surface affected by weather. So, it inspires me to provide color and texture to my art work.
The process of my work starts with photography, sketching, the Internet and content testing using diverse media as painting, drawing, photography, installation and sculpture, creating a sense of visual approach to social and ecological situations.
The materiality of the paper and the canvas are an important part of my compositions, so I don’t stretch the canvas before I start painting. My technique involves texturing the canvases with layers of colour slowly reaching a sensitive point where the subtle richness of these interventions reflects an aesthetic purgation. The tonally blended works then become an embodiment of my approach and awareness towards materials.
