About Artist

I was always passionate about drawing and painting since childhood. Being born in a family of traditional merchants, I could not formally study art. But I don't have any regrets as I believe that it's my passion that make me an artist, and not my qualifications. During all these years that I have been painting, I have been inspired and influenced by different artists at different periods of time. Initially I started painting with oils and later tried other mediums too. But now I paint mostly in watercolor medium. I love painting in a realist style and my subject matter is not limited to any one category. My aim in painting is to communicate the feeling of a moment and, the things that define the moment for me are those temporary, transient qualities like the wetness after a spell of rain or the dramatic play of light and shadow. Light is an important feature in most of my paintings. More often than not it is a particular quality of light that initially attracts me to a subject. I have several shows to my credit and my paintings are in many private collections in India and abroad. Currently, I'm based in Erode where I pursue my passion full time.
