Recent works of Ramakrishna echo his responses to the city environment. Having been born and brought up in a province of rural Andhra Pradesh, he has had enriching encounters with natural surroundings. In the absence of such spaces the artist looks on at the omnipresent concrete-scapes of the city for inspiration. In a set of acrylics on canvas, where colors are used minimally, he portrays vast expanses of heavily structured buildings. Those in blue have an imposing presence and also make no further way to go beyond them thus, creating an impasse. When the skies get red at dawn, in his other canvas, there is a certain hope of overcoming the daunting constructions as a passage through them becomes visible leading, perhaps to a better future.
