About Artist

Harpreet Singh’s art is fascinating; the influence of modern day living is vividly captured on his canvas. The acrylic on canvas is conjured up in myriad ways, all very personalized and influenced by modern day experiences. His work can extract the ugliness, loneliness and apathy that a city is mostly associated with, and at the same time, it also brings out the subtle vibrancy and human touch that is intertwined with life in a metropolis. Most of my paintings are collage on paper and canvas. Mostly I use Acrylic colours. I wanted to be an architect and I spent 25 years around the architecture of Chandigarh. I was so impressed by their style of Architecture. The kind of things I saw on the roads. It’s the everyday subjects, which inspire me. Whatever I see in the newspapers, I cut and paste here. I want more to happen and less to create. I want to intervene less in my painting. In this particular painting there are clothes pasted and things written like ATM. I think that is more important now than a temple. We go to an ATM more than a temple. And then there is Noida and Delhi, Sales and Malls. It’s everyday life on my painting. I write real things, which are not in news but our subconscious. I think ATM is my favourite.
