The art works are mainly based on the issues faced by ‘lower’ caste communities who are deliberately alienated, boycotted or face social exclusions. Naresh looks into incidents in his region where whole settlements of ‘lower’ caste communities of a village were burned and destroyed. Their livelihoods, food, clothes, shelter but also their identities, dreams and future turned into ashes. The COLOUR OF ASH becomes symbolic in his work pertaining to the removal of Dalit history and identity through atrocity. “Ash Blanket” is like a cover of discrimination, humiliation and an exploitation on the these communities, which hinder their growth, ambition, freedom and dignity. “Ash blanket” is a symbolic form of brutality that becomes a visual language, as he points out towards oppression through destruction of not just shelter but hope of education / occupation, and their culture.
