About Artist

Born in 1968, I studied science before changing my course to pursue my passion for painting and trained at the Triveni Kala Sangam as a protégé of eminent artist Rameshwar Broota. I also studied art at the National Museum and in Mizoram. Through perseverance, hard work and devotion, I continue to experiment and innovate and bring freshness to my creations. The varied exposure gets reflected in my surreal work interwoven with beauty in a distinct palette and compositions. Description of the artwork My work talks about migration, movement, questions the existence of being, the philosophical approach of interdependence and a step towards a better balance of life. The small conversations with the rickshawallah about their migration and their daily struggle collectively evoked in me a strong desire to express their emotions. These wistful canvasses highlight the highs and lows of urban existence giving expression to the dreams and realities that underpin the city life. I am intrigued by the shadows as they speak to me of a world, which is more real than the actual form and they connect me with my work.
