About Artist

My name is Chinmay Das. I am a contemporary painter by profession and I have been working in the field of art and design for the past 20 years. I live in Kolkata but my roots are in Bangladesh. I have always wanted to narrate the untold stories of the child labour. I do not merely want to capture the pathetic conditions with brushes but rather with careful strokes. I want to give that society life once more with black charcoal yet bright enough to blind the eyes of the ignorant. Each and every piece contains a fragment of myself, a fragment that I have acquired through time. Travelling has not only given me experience but also showed me the poor conditions of the children who work for living. I have always tried to portray these elements in my art. My art is my voice, a powerful interpretation of my deepest thoughts, hidden emotions, and strongest desires. The images I have created are coined from personal experiences, fears and interests. These ideas and experiences are better drawn and painted than spoken.
