Manish Sharma belongs to the family of the famous Pichwai artist Gopi Lal Sharma. Their family has been making holy paintings of Prabhu Lila since the 17th Century. He learnt painting Pichwai from his father Mr. Mohal Lal Sharma. Pichwai is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Pich’ meaning Back and ‘Wais’ meaning Hanging. Pichwai paintings are large paintings that are hung behind the idol in temples. They depict the life events of lord Shrinath.
