Anwar Chitrakar was born in 1980 and has been practicing Kalighat art for over 20 years. He began as a traditional Patua artist in the 19th century Kalighat style, depicting baboos and their bibis, and then gradually progressed as a more individualistic painter. Today, most of his work ties on mythological themes.
