Lord Ram and Sita doing King Dashrath tarpan(prayers for the deceased soul): After leaving Lord Rama, Lakshman and Sita when Sumantra returned to Ayodhya alone without Ram, he told Dashratha that he could not persuade Ram to return. Hearing this the king went into deep sorrow. He could not bear to be parted from his beloved Ram and breathed his last. As per Hindu mythology, once a person dies, his family performs certain rituals to bring peace to the departed soul. Since Lord Ram was on his exile journey and conditions were such that he could not come back home to perform the rituals he decided to do the rituals in the forest only. Here Lord Rama and Sita can be seen performing the last rites of King Dashratha.
