'Window 4' is a part of this series on divergent windows, which captures an inverse perception of the natural fauna and foliage that one would usually see, if perched at a window sill. The four cornered frame of the artwork is transposed into the four cornered framework of a camera viewfinder if placed on the window sill, and then an inverse perception of metallic extrusions forming natural fauna is brought to the fore, with Metal sheets taking center stage and forming the quintessential branches of trees, natural clearings and certain anatomical abstractions. Emerging out on to the artwork, the metal sheets help in the creating a disjunctive narrative of form and view point. Tar and Copper-Dust align themselves to act as a backdrop to these emerging metaphorical branches, clearings and appendages, and are in turn deconstructed too, with distinct abridged tar laced wooden lines weaving through constructed space of the background, acting as both, the catalyst towards this disunion and the break of plane in the background.
The merging of distinct color tonalities amidst the highlighting of
distance and depth between the spaces explored act as a binary agent for the polishing agents and metal sheets to be amalgamated and yet stay distinct. The series not only dwells on a fictional narrative but seeks to make the viewer question the use vacant spaces in the painting and by extension; our minds, through an exploration of color and space.
