T. Narayan, having passed out from Delhi University with a B. A. Honours degree in Political Science, 1988, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Rajendra Prasad Institute of Mass Communication Management,1988. Narayan joined the Times of India in 1989 as a staff photographer and rose to become the National Photo Editor of India’s leading Newspapers and Magazines.
Photo-journalism career: 31st July 2015 - 13th May 2016, National Photo Editor Open Media Network; March 20 2015 - 20th July 2015,National Photo Editor- The WEEK Malayala Manorama; October 2011- October 2012,National Photo Editor India Today Group; August 2009 – September 2011, National Photo Editor, Hindustan Times; 1995 - July 2009,National Photo Editor of Outlook group of magazines. Joined the organization since its inception, in 1995; 1989-1995,Senior Photographer with The Times of India, Delhi. Currently he is working with The Bloomberg Media.

He reports major socio-political events be it Kashmir/ Babri Masjid Demolition/Cyclones or Tsunami/ Lok Sabha/ Assembly Elections etc. Through his enterprise- ‘Photo Routes’ he has been imparting photographic knowledge through workshops.

During the UNFOLDING of the Migrant Crisis of the Covid-19 lockdown. Narayan captured the daunting journeys the migrant undertook in precarious conditions for hundreds of miles either by foot or by transport.
Estimated 41 lakh have gone home by road across India.
