Samiksha is a contemporary Indian artist and portrait painter. Samiksha aspires to combine Classicism and Contemporary, and paint the portrait and the figure in an impressionistic manner.

Her paintings reflect the influences of 19th Century Realism; she is part of a new movement of artists across the world working in classical painting methods and practices, while staying true to a contemporary aesthetic. She presently uses both the Alla - Prima (wet-into-wet) technique and indirect painting methods promoted by these movements, stressing on the accuracy of drawing in representation of the subject. Her focus remains on working from life, to emphasise on the play of light on form, whether while painting a portrait or a still life, and introducing the brushwork of abstract realists to represent the subject in an impressionistic manner, while maintaining the realistic nature.

Since a very young age as early as age four, Samiksha was exposed to extensive travel to Europe through her family business rooted in textile furnishings and decorative artefacts, and thus she was instinctively drawn to Western Classical Art when she started gravitating towards her newfound passion and calling. As a result of that, she is also drawn strongly to architectural and interior based artworks which she often sketches in watercolour, and eventually aspires to represent in oils.

She presently uses both the Alla - Prima (wet-into-wet) technique and indirect painting methods promoted by these movements, stressing on the accuracy of drawing in representation of the subject as well as in the vibrancy of the colours.
