Ruchika Kawlra Motwani has worked as a visual artist for over 30 years – creating a successful career that has spanned an extensive canvas of experiential work in the creative fields of Advertising, Graphic Design, Fine Art and Publishing. She has been an intrinsic part of the Bangalore art scene over the last decade, having been a founding member of the various art festivals such as Art Bengaluru, Berserk and Whitefield art collective. She is the founder of 3peel; and organisation which empowers children via various creative platforms. Ruchika has been a recipient of the UK based Prestigious Big Draw Trail Blazer award for 2015. Ruchika has collaborated with Radhika Singh on her trail blazing book ‘It’s easy to be You’. She is also the author/illustrator of 2 series of art books: ‘Discover European/American/World Art’ for adults and ‘Play 1-5’ for children.
As a fine artist, Ruchika has exhibited extensively and her artworks are part of collections all over the world. A central and recurring theme in her work has been individual empowerment. Another; the marriage of humans with nature. She believes that people can derive phenomenal strength from the natural environment as there is a strong and intrinsic bond between them. Ruchika's artworks have an unforgettably strong presence and inner beauty. The play of colour and brushwork gives an energetic momentum to each of her canvases.
Ruchika lives in Bangalore India. She is currently working on an abstract series of oil Painting. Her latest series of work involving Migration sees her play with both spontaneity and deliberation. This series of abstracts see her experimenting with Stylisation, Brutalism and Expressionism.
