Riaz Samadhan, has completed his B F A from J.J. Institute of Applied Art, Mumbai in 1992.
Some of his solo’s have been: 'The Diary of Riaz Samadhan', Museum Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2011; 'Self Alienation: Celebration of Myopia II', Art Heritage, Triveni Kala Sangam, New Delhi, 2009; 'Self Alienation: Celebration of Myopia I', Museum Art Gallery, Mumbai, 2008; ‘Impact of Commercialization on Emotional Life’, The Osmosis Gallery, Mumbai, 2007. His Group participations have been- 'New Perspectives of India', Avanthay Contemporary, Zurich, Swizerland, 2009; ‘Thought And Being’, Osmosis Gallery, Mumbai,2007; ‘Harmony Show’, Nehru Centre, Mumbai, 1997/98.

Hailing from Kolhapur and residing in Mumbai, Riaz’s observations ranges from the rural-urban panorama. His rooted native connect reflects in his studies of the River, the land and its People.
The idyllic rural contrasts the mechanisms of the urban, as he subjects accelerations and exploitations through the Culture of EXCESS.

Observations of ‘Consumption and Consumerism’, modernity and progress confront the ecological concerns through Riaz’s works.
‘Self Alienation’, from his show ‘Celebration of Myopia’, speaks of a discord man fails to recognise inspite of progressive human intellect and scientific progress.
His conceptual works have often depicted subjects of Alienation, Fragmentation, Discord of Man emerging from excess of ‘Material Desire and it's Conflict with Ecology’.
He often uses gestures to shows disharmony and chaos within this system.

The ‘Pandemic’ brings in a historic moment of bringing the world to a grinding halt. It is time to reflect on ‘HUMAN IMPACT/ Culture of Excess’ on its environment.
