Indian Artist Rajat Subhra Bandopadhyay : Aquarellist from India

Presently I am working as water color artist, aquarellist. This is my medium, one the oldest medium in the earth and one of the toughest medium to handle. I guess I am the only person from India who is doing water color on canvas. Nature is the most preferable subject for me. I am the part of IWS group, International Water color Society, India. See, we do try capture from a nature, not exactly what I am seeing there. We incorporate from our own imagination, otherwise there will be no difference between photography and painting. Why people will spend one lakh eighty thousand for this painting if he will not get that essence which I have incorporated over here. Like there is certain amount of white, keeping the paper white. That’s the biggest ornament for water color. These are all canvas white, there is no white color has been used. Nowhere. Water color we do light to dark and in other medium we do just the other way, dark to light. Like acrylic and oil, we do just the other way. We put the darker color first, then gradually we use the lighter. But now a days, lot of people have started using wa x, masking fluid. There are a lot of new generation guys doing that. May be I am from the old school thought, but I am using the paper white.
