Gurmeet Goldie is a Sculptor who has been working in clay, wood, metal and stone for more than two decades. Her consistent and continuous working not only helped in understanding the nature of the different materials but also familiarize with the form in consonance with the beat of her heart. The sensuous grace, rhythmic curves and inner vitality in Goldie’s art of sculpture give her a distinct presence.“This is of undoubted interest for it provides one with a framework, an ocassion to see the development of her ideas in different media, considering that there is a fairly consistent strand of thematic concern in her work. Gurmeet is drawn especially to stones that are weathered, and contain as many hollows as protuberances, to forms that in other words are touched by little mysteries that lurk in shadows when glaring sunlight beats upon them. Alternately, she explores sharp facets and concavities, as if not satisfied with a single view of what she sees essentially as a complex, more or less unknowable form.
