“The best way to explain an artist’s life is to look at her work. Geetha’s work speaks for her life and her soul. Born and brought up in the garden city of Bangalore, it’s no surprise that the city’s thriving rich traditions rooted in all fields of art, bore a great influence on her paintings.

Geetha truly believes all that art shows us, is our own soul. It is art, and art alone, that reveals us to ourselves. Her goal as an artist is to create works that depict beauty in the simple things that surround us, and yet go unnoticed. Always one to improvise, her painting style and compositions continue to undergo changes. Windows to new possibilities open with every new innovative and creative work.
She constantly seeks to push her boundaries, working with new materials and mediums, feeling an immense sense of satisfaction in being able to transform her canvases into different textures like wood, brick and cloth.”
She was born into family of artists and has been painting for the past 15 years professionally. She had the opportunity to be trained under an eminent artist Mr. Rameshwar Broota. Her work has undergone changes and is now experimenting with different techniques whilst keeping oil and canvas as base.

“I find beauty in simple things that surrounds us but we normally tend to ignore. I like to add an element of nature in my paintings if possible as it brings life to the paintings. I want each viewer to feel the painting in his or her own way. I feel satisfied when the painting communicates with me.”

Geetha Ramasesh: The colors & the compositions talk through her paintings!

I used to paint on pottery earlier and it slowly let me into canvas. I draw my inspiration from artist Vermeer and Dali, he is my most favorite. I draw a lot of inspiration from him. My paintings do not tell any story. Only the colours and the composition talk in my paintings. In most of my paintings, intentionally or not, an element of Nature come is. Like in this painting the Jute itself has come from the bark of a tree. So be it living or non-living, there is an element of Nature in my painting. Earlier it used to be oil on Canvas but now as I am experimenting with different techniques therefore I am using different mediums also.
