From Pune, Maharashtra, the richness in Gayatri’s canvases comes from the soft light plays on still water which exposes layers hidden in its translucent depths. It forms a shape and dissolves quickly and becomes a fluid reflection, mirroring impressions stored away in the mind’s eye. Forms and designs spin through her works, which creates rhythm and continuity. When one gazes beyond the reflections of the work, his thoughts merge with the artist’s. Each of her works gives a different impact to the viewer – Indian Art Ideas

Artist Gayatri Deshpande’s oeuvre is a fine example of the statement: art is silent poetry. Her latest work, Reflections, displays soft lights that play on still waters to reveal layers hidden in its translucent depths. Shapes form and dissolve rapidly, losing physicality to become fluid reflections, mirroring impressions stored away in the mind’s eye, she says. On Gayatri’s rich canvas, form and patterns have a story to tell in a blurred or obscure structure. She attributes this quality to comprehend forms to her architect father, who played a pivotal role in nurturing her passion for painting. This 37-year-old Pune-based artist joined Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, an esteemed art school, after graduating in Fine Arts. She later taught art to the students of the same school, as she likes to interact and mould young artists. She has exhibited her art through several group shows at NCPA and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, and Tilting Art Gallery and Cafe Sunrise, Pune. Gayatri’s work is primarily done on canvas with acrylic, where depth and rich colours are vital elements. She likes to use an abstract vocabulary teamed with a prominent imagery.

My association with Mojarto has been very old and I feel extremely proud about the same. It is one of the best online art platforms for the artists to showcase their creations. The website management too is very easy to operate.
