Dibakar Karmakar carries a jovial nature and is quite optimistic and modest by virtue. In his paintins, Dibakar adjoins the formal qualities of abstract art while expressing and communicating the desire for its metaphysical importance. Through an inward journey, his work is an assertive quest for original truth and beauty beyond the fakeness and falsehood of human aspirations. One gets a sense of the inexorableness and mystery of the natural order through these words, something which is further underscored by the integration of hallucinatory impression of strikes an colour movements. His work of art articulates a visual counterpoint but also gives the pleasure of smooth juxtaposition without compelling the eye to fluctuate.
He also emphasizes the actual process of making art: to utilize the canvas positively, to experiment with tones and shades and to explore the aesthetics of colour and texture. In this way he creates movement and depth while also analysing the basic qualities and properties of flatness. Dibakar’s colours are incredibly lucid and tangible creating a sense of mesmeric effect on the canvas plane. A gamut of layers and shadows form the core of the artwork that can be created from the same colour.
Dibakar has completed his Master of visual arts (M.V.A.) from Rabindra Bharati University,Kolkata, 1994. Karmakar has got the ‘Junior Fellowship’ of Dept of Culture. He is recipient of several awards. Last 22 year from his early days of Rabindra Bharati Karmakar participated and organized many exhibition including six solo show at Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmadabad and Chandigarh.
