My present works are based on MY INNER SPACE, which I am experiencing while meditation, process of searching within. We spend too much of our time listening to our own inner chatter, and that by learning to quiet the mind, and make some positive adjustments to our lifestyle, we will tap into a more balanced consciousness.
[Video - Indian Artist Deepak Sonar: The Background Takes Centre Stage]
I had got a government job in which I was required to do still animation but I wasn’t quite enjoying it, so I decided to resign and become a full time artist. After leaving the job, the paintings I started doing were figurative. I thought there must be some progress in my work and gradually figures in my painting started vanishing and the background became foreground. Whatever I do is called abstraction but you get the feel of a landscape in it. I had a small wiper in my house, which I started my paintings with but I now use a bigger one with the help of which my paintings become softer. It becomes difficult to soften the acrylic because acrylic is usually dry and hence I use this, which helps me in my paintings. I do my paintings in layers and so they have around 25-30 layers. Any painting is complete only when the painter is satisfied with it.
