Born in Balasore, Orissa, Daina completed her BFA in painting at Dhauli college of art and craft (BBSR) Utkl University of Culture, Odisha.( 1999-2004.) and her MFA(Painting) Collage of Art At, New Delhi(2006-08) Daina Mohapatra's artistic concerns are tied very deeply with her own concerns on being a woman. The artist transforms the painted surfaces of her works into multilayered platforms through which she engages with her own physicality as well as ideas of feminism. Her paintings assume a strong autobiographical quality that renders them at once distant, yet personal to the viewer.
In the words of the artist, ".I wish to penetrate the opaque wall that envelops
her existence and engage with her struggles, desires, and sexual orientations. I create juxtapositions of my own image as my body is the host for a woman's truth. I always portray myself in my paintings which make many questions for the society. Curiously, I have set them in such a way that I always hunting the answer with my hollow eyes and hunting expressions that stop my life.”

She has exhibited her work at many international venues, including Holy Now, By Religare Arts. I, Gallery27, LONDAN, United Art Fair.
