I received my diploma in applied art from CN College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad in 1975. For the next 20 years I worked as a graphic designer and in 1980, founded the company Aries Graphics where I continue to work today.

In addition to my graphic design work, beginning in the mid-1990s. I started to exhibit my fine art at galleries as well. I was able to seriously explore and advance my painting and integrate my experience as a graphic designer into my work. Part of this process involved studying various forms of technology and sometimes using them when I paint.

My current body of work consists exclusively of paintings that focus on the most common of objects like vessels, tea cups, match sticks, edibles and similar items that we use in our day-to-day lives. The minimal form of these objects represents the feel of comfort and the feel that they are so honestly belong to us and they are like our best buddies. The objects I choose represent and symbolize aspects and relationships in our lives.

I create these works in two distinct phases. First I begin the abstract background, and then over the next number of days, continue to build up and deepen the surface texture with multiple layers of paint. As a result, a beautiful and thoroughly active space occupies my canvas with positive energy and goodness. Once each background is finished, I spend time studying it in order to determine exactly which objects and items will fit perfectly within it and complete the composition.

The paintings are as much about the objects themselves as they are about the times in which we use them.
