A self-taught sketch artist and a trained professional photographer, Arijit mostly sketches portraits when commissioned but he is also inclined in sketching street scenes. He was trained in basic techniques in sketching and painting and group exhibitions were held for his artworks when he was young. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, he took a break from it at that time. That break eventually looked like a lifetime and then his urge got buried under one thousand different things. After 20 long years, during the period of lockdown when the world was mourning the seize of their liberty by a virus, he was opening doors to his past and rediscovering his first love of life, sketching. So far in last three months, he moved a lot of stones and sketched at least 50 commissioned portraits on different papers in three different styles. Many satisfied clientele and more to be. His primary interests in sketching, as his style of photography, is people and their habitat. Though he is not a landscape artist, but once in a blue moon, he likes to sketch skies and birds on them.

As a photographer who worked for 15 years in the industry, the keen understanding of light helps him a lot when sketching anything, especially human figures. The play of light and shade in his work is the primary attraction. He prefers only graphite pencils for sketching. His choice of paper is snow-white cartridge and handmade.
