Anjum has been painting for over a decade now. She works with oils and watercolours. Her style goes from realism to abstraction. She enjoys playing around with the knife and loves the rich texture and the lustrous effects one can get with the knife & by using an array of different untraditional tools. She draws extensively from the dynamic rhythm of the nature that surrounds her and strives to re-create that rhythm on the canvas by building a “connection” between her language of abstraction and her perception of the subject. Her imagery is simple and conveys a form, which is at once creatively vibrant, yet effectively simple.
Her works are a myriad of colours and bring about a drama on the canvas through the reds, yellows, orange and blues. The hues on her canvas have an almost lyrical quality about them….and her color palate has only got more buoyant over the years. She works without any preconceived ideas and her paintings are made using many layers of texture and paint. She is a full-time artist with a desire to create and capture earthy textures, bright bold colours and rich subtle layers of color in her works. In fact, her work can now be called a combination of realism and abstraction.
