Anand Narain's paintings bespoke of the holy city Banares (Varanasi) in an abstract yet realistic manner. The city's architectural beauty and unusual perspectives, the beliefs and myths deeply rooted in the hearts of rural races, holy & serene ghats of the Ganges, cluster of majestic temples and the herding boats... all these things have jointly made the subject of his paintings that are simplistic yet loaded with multiple interpretations.

His works are very philosophical... meaning much more than what is there on the canvas. While painting the city of Banares (Varanasi) that is bound to inspire every creative person, he creates not merely paintings but evokes an atmosphere through which people can feel as if they were experiencing the city.

Anand Narain: Simplicity And Honesty Reflects In His Work

We have lot of mediums to paint. I enjoy painting with oil on canvas and acrylic. I am currently working on my Banaras series which have very natural references. I visited and whatever I minutely observed can be found in my paintings. I do not want to create photographic paintings. People attach themselves to my paintings which gives them a lot of joy.
