My name is Amit Harit and I was born in 1986, Jaipur. Painting is my passion, along with other streams of the arts like movies and books. I run and attend art camps and workshops in my hometown, whilst showcasing my work in several exhibitions all over India.
Over the last 5 or 6 odd years I have realized the ever-changing importance of colours in my pictures. Working over the past one year I have now introduced a new series of paintings. Through my paintings, I have tried to bring to life the paradoxical yet beautiful existence of urban and rural life, nature and technology, tradition and development, excitement and sadness. The paintings that are a part of this series are a mirror reflection of these ironic aspects of our everyday life.
The collages of vibrant acrylic colours on canvas, emerging from the background, have encapsulated in themselves the very essence of time. My endeavour has been to put on canvas my own feelings and understanding of the existence of these dichotomies of life. Every experience of life, whether a casual stroll or meeting people, the impressions cast by people or the complexities of life’s relationships, all these and many more experiences leave behind a trail of memories and thoughts in the mind
The paintings reveal how nature’s gifts namely the plants and trees, the hills, the rivers, the jungles, ponds, the birds and animals are interacting with each other. The different kinds of trees, peacocks, ducks, cranes flying in the air, lions, deer, insects, the various species of fish and tortoise, the camels and elephants, the coming forth of life from an egg, metro train, auto rickshaws, ships of the sea, helicopter, a hot air balloon, along with the depiction of tribal clans coexisting with urban life, portray the clearness and at times ambiguous existence and intertwined relations of all things.
Every experience of life, whether a casual stroll or meeting people, the impressions cast by people or the complexities of life’s relationships, all these and many more experiences leave behind a trail of memories and thoughts in the mind.
However, with the passage of time these very thoughts and memories fade away. But, whenever I am faced with a canvas these latent memories, come to life and finds its way into my paintings. My pictures reflect my feelings. I find myself understanding the world better with each passing day and my paintings. However, there is still a lot to be understood. My paintings are an effort to express these complex thoughts.
